What will the course content be?

The 3 C’s in Maths-Curiosity, Collaboration and Creativity in Maths

This course demonstrates how we can use collaboration, curiosity and creativity in Maths to can engage learners who ‘hate’ Maths. The course will demonstrate how we can use the wonder and beauty of Maths as a way of breaking down barriers to learning and improving motivation and understanding of this fascinating subject.

Working Memory

This course looks exactly what working memory is and how it plays such a large part in the difficulties that learners with dyslexia and dyscalculia can face. Identification of working memory problems will be covered as well as strategies to improve working memory function.

Dot patterns and Cuisenaire Rods

This is a very practical one day course that explores how to use dot patterns and Cuisenaire rods to develop numerosity in learners with dyscalculia and maths learning difficulties. Strategies and activities for developing conservation of number and number sense generally will be demonstrated .

Maths Anxiety

This course looks at the causes  of maths anxiety and how to support learners who suffer from Maths Anxiety, including classroom and teaching accommodations to alleviate anxiety.

Who are the courses aimed at?

The courses are aimed at practitioners teaching all age ranges from children in Key stage 1 through to students in Higher Education . Each course is offered as pre 16 or post 16. Training materials are altered and made bespoke for the attending delegates for each course session.

Whereabouts are the courses held?

The courses are held throughout the UK, but most commonly in the Midlands with venues in Birmingham and Solihull.

In house training for schools and colleges is available nationwide.
